Our national parachuting team boosts its ranking at Birmingham 2022 World Games


Abdul Bari Al Qubaisi, the UAE national parachuting and water skiing team player, advanced to the third rank in the parachuting competition at the end of the tenth round of the World Games in Birmingham, USA, hosted from 7th to 17th of July, with the participation of 3600 athletes from 100 countries worldwide competing in 36 sports.

Meanwhile, Al Qubaisi's teammate, Cornelia Mihai, the UAE national team player, also advanced to seventh rank in the same competition, with two rounds remaining, as both athletes played 10 out of 12 rounds. The final ranking is to be decided and the first places and medal winners to be determined after calculating the total scores over the 12 rounds.

The UAE participates in the 11th edition of the World Games in Birmingham, USA, with 13 athletes in four games: Air Sports, Muaythai, Jiu-Jitsu, and Duathlon.

Saud Al Zaabi and Faris Al Zaabi, the UAE national triathlon team players, arrived to Birmingham in preparation for participating in the Duathlon competition next Saturday, while the UAE national Muaythai team arrives on Wednesday to contest in the competitions of the World Games hosted from 7th to 17th of July.

For his part, H.E. Khalid Al Fahim, President of the UAE Triathlon Federation, confirmed that the arrival of the talented duo, Faris Al Zaabi and Saud Al Zaabi to the finals of the World Games, in the UAE Triathlon team first participation, is historic. "It's gratifying that both players have qualified to the World Games and boosted our ambitions to make new achievements that confirm the development of triathlon in the UAE. The UAE Triathlon Federation is also keen to provide all elements of empowerment that guarantee the success of the UAE teams’ mission and achieve the best results. This glorious success in the Federation’s march was achieved thanks to the collective work of the Triathlon Federation members and all the strategic partners who provided full support to the Federation." Al Fahim stated.

Salha Al Basti, Secretary-General of the UAE Triathlon Federation, stressed the importance of participating in the World Games, which enhances the UAE Federation's position among the participating federations worldwide, raises the flag of the UAE in all international sports forums, and establishes the Federation vision in achieving all its objectives set by the Federations' President and board members. "Before participating in the tournament, players undergone extensive preparations in the preparation camp, which lasted 60 days in Spain, in addition to other participations within the preparation plan." Al Basti added.

Bakhit Al-Qars, UAE Triathlon Federation's board member and head of UAE Triathlon team's delegation, stated that this unprecedented achievement for the UAE Triathlon must be repeated in major sports events, as the team has made successes to be added to the achievements made by the Federation in the past years, which were praised by everyone. "This participation will not be the last, and there will be various participations that give players more experience and contact with game champions, which enhance and develop their technical levels." Al-Qars pointed out.
